Day 1 - Palma

On Tuesday 6 May we left London from Gatwick to fly to Palma. We had to get up ridiculously early to catch a cab to the airport. The boys were not used to getting up so early, and it was pitch black outside. Zander (aged 6) started crying in the cab, he was pretty disturbed by leaving in the early hours of the morning. The Rocket (aged 3) was just quite silent during the trip to the airport. It was quite beautiful driving to the airport as the sun was just beginning to rise on the outskirts of London. They both perked up when we arrived at the airport, and after a bit of queuing we had checked in our bags and had our boarding passes, we just had to wait until our flight was called. The flight to Palma was about 3 hours, which is quite a short trip for us. The boys had managed the 24 hour flight from Sydney to London quite well just a few months earlier, and the 3 hours to Palma was a nice easy flight. Some of the english kids on the flight seemed to find it quite difficult and there was quite a lot of crying and screaming from the seats around us. I was very proud of my two for handling it so well.
Mallorca was much drier than we had expected, especially given that it was Spring.

After we arrived and collected our bags at Palma we were directed to buses that then took us to where our ship was docked.
The boys were keen to get straight into the water, and spent some time in the kiddies pool near the ship's kids club.
The Rocket was very excited by the toys at the kids club, especially the little car which was the same as one he had before we moved to England.
This is a view from the ship of Gaudi's Cathedral in Palma.
The boys were also very excited by the giant chess set on one of the decks of the ship.
